Track Not Found, essential new band on tour.

A new band that pricked up our ears in February, Track Not Found are three girls from the quaint isle of Guernsey who make distinctly un-quaint music. Emma Thomas (drummer and vocalist), Grace Tayler (guitarist and vocalist) and Maisie Bisson (bassist and vocalist) united in early 2016 and started gigging at the end of June. Fast forward a year to Summer 2018, and they are about to hit the road. (My, how this tapestry weaves. The band's 10th August London show has been moved to cool Camden venue, The Unicorn where the fab DecoloniseFest fund raiser happened) Heavy sounds with fuzzy riffs, driving drums and eclectic vocals, Tom Girard of BBC Introducing described them as combining "elements of grunge, riot grrrl and the kind of power-blues Jack White has made his name with." After nearly 20 gigs in 2017 (a lot, when you're from a small island with…

House Festival (aka attending ‘The Poshest Festival in Britain’.)

Well, this is all very civilised, I’m on the barrier waiting for my favourite band and the people next to meare sharing a cheese board, complete with a selection of cheeses, crackers and grapes. Others are drinking from brightly coloured metal water flasks we collected at the entrance, at any other festival theywould be confiscated as a potential weapon! But this is no ordinary festival, this is House Festival organised by members club Soho House and todayheld in the grounds of the beautiful stately home Kenwood in Hampstead. Billed as the ‘poshest festival in Britain’ tickets are a whopping £250 each! A large percentage of the proceeds are going to charity, so Unicef and English Heritage are set to benefit from the sale of all 10,000 tickets. The 11 acts…

Tom Grennan; ‘Lighting Matches’ on This Feeling TV

Man of the people, Tom Grennan, is Top 5 in the charts with his debut album 'Lighting Matches' (Insanity Records), and on fire.  Interviewed recently on This Feeling TV he admits “I’m not too sure what's going to happen, now. What’s come out already isn’t anything that’s like on the new album – it takes a dip into a whole different world. It’s exciting for people to hear what I’ve had up my sleeve.”  It's worked wonders as Tom is, additionally, both Number 1 in independent record stores the bestselling vinyl LP this week! Also in the Irish Top 30. 'Lighting Matches' is a British classic, a very modern take on bluesy soul pop that sounds so much like ambition that this is obviously just the start of so much more. Tom Grennan has the engaging character…

BlackWaters Backyard Shindig: “People Street” EP Release House Show Party!

BlackWaters Backyard Shindig: “People Street” EP Release House Show Party!

For the highly anticipated release of their latest EP “People Street”, BlackWaters transformed their quiet Sheffield home into the North of England’s one-stop-punk-show for the evening.  Greeted by the low hum of ‘War Pigs’ by Black Sabbath, the walk down to the house was preparation in itself. The insatiable atmosphere of chaos oozed out of the garden and into the street, where individuals were already wandering about, cigarettes and tinnies in hand.  Through a narrow alley and into the garden, the set up was nothing short of comically impressive. Every decorative piece had been “borrowed” from local skips, from ice-cream signs to a bike with a scarecrow impaled onto it. A trashy BlackWaters branded bed sheet was draped over a psychedelic backdrop, .....and would it even be DIY without fairy…

“Kill Your Darlings” Children Of The State debut with a killer EP

“Kill Your Darlings” Children Of The State debut with a killer EP

'Kill Your Darlings' is a trip. It's way out there. An aural magical mystery tour. As introductions go, this EP instantly tune laden and accessible, but definitely alternative and laced with lysergic notes and tones.  The musicians, Children Of The State,  are a peyote punk outfit from the shires.  Derbyshire and Yorkshire to be precise. John McCullagh - Vocals/rhythm guitar, Nathan Keeble - Backing Vocals/lead guitar, Conor O'Reilly - Drums, Corey Clifton - Bass guitar. Image by Duncan Sandelind Stafford Their ominous name is derived from both what Kim Jong Un calls the people of North Korea and what the FBI dubbed the Manson Family in 1960's Hollywood. Aptly named, their music provides a pulsing back beat to the stark dystopian reality of modern British life. Children Of The State were were seeking suitable…
