New Album 24th May and headline UK tour in November.
The Amazons are the most rocking thing about the town of Reading since it’s famous festival. Their story, especially the last few years, is already unreal; “The goalposts always change”, they note. Two of the band were recently telling all to Gordon Smart and Laura Whitmore, hosts of Red Stripe Presents: This Feeling TV, over a game of pool.
It’s how This Feeling rolls. The influential music show, with over a million viewers so far, is a port of call for key rising rock n roll names and music’s cultural icons, alike. The Amazons straddle both levels. With widespread acclaim (including appearing on BBC TV’s Later With Jools Holland and last weekend they were on Channel 4 TV’s Sunday Brunch), these bona fide home grown Rock Stars are about to go next level, again, following up 2017’s eponymous top ten album.
New LP ‘Future Dust’, (from which current single, ’25’, is taken) arrives Friday 24th May on Fiction Records. It heralds another landmark in an incredible time for music from these isles. Both The Amazons and This Feeling are part of the grounds-well in a highly visible guitar music renaissance over the last few years across Britain and Ireland. So there was much for lead singer, Matt Thomson, and drummer Jo Emmet to talk about with TFTV, between sheets.
Alongside the above releases and their inspirations, the candid conversation is an overview from working in Waitrose, playing small venues and festivals to recent fatherhood and veering from recent uncertainty to the band’s exciting future. It’s proving popular with music fans, see why here;
That’s their first tour bus, ‘Big Suze‘, alight, on the first album’s artwork, they mention it in the above interview. The band, always striving for more, are increasingly on fire.
Before the headline tour to around 25,000 fans their massive summer fest dates include Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Neighbourhood Weekender, TRNSMT, Leeds and another homecoming at Reading Festival!
