Spill The Sound - Living The Stream

“We were all extremely impressed with the team at StreamGM”

At the end of 2023, multi location based, multi-million streamed creator, presenter and connector, Louise Schofield called 2023 “My most diverse year”. Hitting 2024’s ground running, she presents Spill The Sound music TV series on multi-award-winning, not-for-profit Manchester broadcaster, StreamGM, renown for providing a voice for local culture.

This high quality global platform is filmed in The Yard Mcr, a former Victorian school with stunning natural acoustics. Partnered with StreamGM’s production team and pioneering tech organisation Black Magic Design, it’s reminiscent of heyday music television but holds it’s own as a modern cult catalyst. All fused as a media marvel with on-site photography by the ace, Jon Mo and theme music by Joe Cross (Courteeners).

Featuring some of the best independent talent from the North, Spill The Sound blends new unsigned acts alongside established headliners. Informal as a chat in the park (if the park was a bath of balls) with a new great whistle test of performance credibility, it’s a spanker of a show that Tony Wilson (Factory Records, The Hacienda) would probably have appreciated.

A creative hard worker with inbuilt positivity, Louise Schofield diligently researches and inquisitively engages. A force for good in the growing #FertileEnvironment which the interdependent, alt-rock industrious are driving.

There’s much prestige and acclaim among Spill The Sound alumni with fast risers, Alex Spencer, Lottery Winners, Abbie Ozard, Andrew Cushin, The Kairos, Cassia, Wull and The Clause also amidst it’s vibrant mix! For some, 2024 is their biggest year so far, already.

“We were all extremely impressed with the team at StreamGM when we came to film Spill The Sound with them at The Yard. We were really looked after and enjoyed filming some of our tracks off the new album ‘Western Approaches’. The Yard building is really something to behold. We really liked the Spill The Sound backdrop and set too, plus the lighting made us all look good so that is a bonus!” (Joe Corby, Red Rum Club)

With hard work, sussed talent spotting, multi talent tasking (and appreciated kindnesses),  the show’s presenter, Louise Schofield, is a deservedly recognisable name and face.

“As soon as the StreamGM team saw Louise’s pilot of Spill The Sound, a quirky, indie-centric spin on traditional music programming, we saw the potential in the format, and the opportunity to shine a spotlight on brilliant homegrown talent.”

The brief: Ballsy bands with bangers.

Louise is an infectiously curious interviewer, radio/TV/gaming presenter, an events/festivals compere, DJ (including Nation’s top live events multi-tasker, This Feeling AND the No.1 indie-club, Propaganda), a researched reporter, natural comedian, a CUP Soccer Six Ambassador, video director, awards host - and an all round Born To Star charismatic professional at all levels. She’s helps our documenting tick.

“One of my goals when I was starting out as a presenter was to have my own music TV show with live sessions and interviews, so it has been an absolute dream to work with StreamGM to produce and front Spill The Sound.

The acts have all loved diving into the Spill The Sound set where their music takes centre stage, and the artists take centre bath!

“I have loved reawakening the concept of dedicated music TV with StreamGM and welcoming some of the very best new breakthrough bands and artists from north of the M1.”

A case in point. We’re huge fans of Alex Spencer and have memories of the music industry SoccerSixFest in Manchester Bellevue last Summer where, like Louise, he was on the pitch before engaging the audience at the Extra Time live show! That day is a “could'n’t make it up story in it’s own right, but the tip is to find all of the artists as Spill The Sound is like a gigs and festivals guide but with personal, back story insight.

It’s fair to say that Louise Schofield lives a hectic, hopeful and appreciatively helpful existence! TheZineUK is “by working class women for playing class friends” as our editor, Dizzy Spell says. I concur. It’s always better to see women raised than erased. So this year, 24 Hour Party People? It’s a new world. Seize the days! Zeenagers Expo recommends all the above.

Creator style. Spill The Sound is a winner. Great call, StreamGM (oh and #StageStyle - it’s no secret that Louise Schofield’s wardrobe has so much Fred Perry clobber that we envy!)
